Frequently Asked Questions

Can I get an OZEV grant if I rent my property?

Yes — if you are a tenant with off-street parking and an eligible vehicle, you can apply for the EVHS grant. Your landlord's permission is required. Landlords can also apply for separate landlord grants.

Do all electric cars qualify for the OZEV grant?

Most full battery electric vehicles (BEVs) qualify. Some plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) also qualify if they meet CO2 emission criteria. Check the full OZEV eligibility list or ask us to confirm.

How long does EV charger installation take?

A standard 7kW home installation takes 3–6 hours. If your consumer unit needs upgrading or the cable run is complex, it may take a full day.

Will I need a new consumer unit for an EV charger?

Not always, but many older fuse boards cannot handle the additional load safely. We assess this during your free site survey and will advise if an upgrade is needed.

Can I claim a grant for a second chargepoint?

The EVHS grant is limited to one chargepoint per vehicle, per property. The Workplace Charging Scheme allows up to 40 sockets per business.
